Old Japanese Albumen Photograph.
[EARLY 20TH CENTURY PHOTOGRAPH]. Stock ID: 69849 Black and white albumen photograph showing a procession of bearers carrying 9 wedding gifts each drapped with a textile on which the 'mon' of the wood sorrel plant or kagami-gusa is clearly showing. Photograph itself measures 20 x 26.5cm and the board which is stamped K. Sakakibara in the bottom right corner, measures 32.4 x 39.2cm. A large attractive inscription in Japanese on the reverse of the board tells us that this photograph shows the trousseau which was received on the 6th of May 1919 arriving at the front gate.
