China and Postsocialist Anthropology - Andrew Kipnis
Thu 1 May 2008
Launch of 'China and Postsocialist Anthropology. Theorizing Power and Society after Communism'

We hope that you will join us between 6 and 8pm on Thursday May 1st to celebrate the publication of 'China and Postsocialist Anthropology' by ANU academic Dr Andrew Kipnis. Professor Jonathan Unger, head of the China Contemporary China Centre will launch the book. After Professor Unger's launch Andrew Kipnis will give a short talk about his book, how he came to write it and some of the issues he faced in doing so.

As Jonathan Unger stated in reviewing this book "'China and Postsocialist Anthropology' is a sophisticated and insightful analysis of post-socialist regimes, seen through the prism of the Chinese case." China and Postsocialist Anthropology applies lessons learned from socialist governance, especially in China, to the realm of social theory.

Andrew Kipnis is bilingual English/Chinese and has spent considerable time in China so he writes and speaks from much 'on the ground' experience.

Hope you can join us!
