An Unimaginable Talk - Imran Ahmad, speaking in Canberra
Tue 27 May 2008
Sydney Writers Festival Guest, Imran Ahmad, will be in Canberra for one night only on Tuesday May 27.

Imran Ahmad is the author of the absolutely charming autobiography 'Unimagined. A Muslim Boy Meets the West'. This compelling book traces Imran's life from his birth in Pakistan to the end of his university education in Scotland. He describes the reaction both to and of his family when they arrived in London in the 1960s, coping as both the only Muslim and only "coloured boy" at his school at the time and although this sounds as though it would all be unpleasant this is far from the story! His charmingly engaging book is the story of a young boy growing up with all the thoughts and feelings (great love of cars and interest in and worries about the opposite sex) that most people would relate to. His descriptions of his faith and education in it are fascinating contrasted as they are with his friends Christianity - or in some cases lack of it. 'Unimagined' is a wonderful book which I would highly recommend and I am sure that Imran Ahmad's talk on May 27 will be just as good.
