Award winning Tash Aw is visiting Asia Bookroom
Mon 25 May 2009
Visiting Australia for the Sydney Writer’s Festival we are extremely pleased to announce that award winning Tash Aw is giving a talk at Asia Bookroom about his new book ‘Map of the Invisible World’.

Come and join us at Asia Bookroom from 6 – 8pm on Monday 25th May to meet this fascinating young author.

His much anticipated second novel ‘Map of the Invisible World’, is a touching tale of love and loss‚ friendships and belonging‚ and the indissoluble ties of family. It is set in Indonesia in the 60s‚ where two brothers are adopted into very different families from an orphanage. They never meet again. This book describes the relationship they have with each other in their minds‚ and the impact of that on the course of their lives against the backdrop of a vast country on the brink of great upheaval.

His first novel ‘The Harmony Silk Factory’ is set in Malaysia during and after World War II. It is a brilliantly constructed puzzle. From one angle it's the story of one woman who is loved by three different men. From another side it's the tale of a boy's search for an elusive father. This highly acclaimed book was Winner 2005 Whitbread First Novel Award, Winner 2005 Comonwealth Writers prize for Best First Novel and Longlisted for the 2005 MAN Booker prize.
