Double sided fabric. Sheet 44/G shows Sumatra and surrounding seas with Bangka. Sheet 44/H shows Borneo and Java. Altitude shown in colour with topographic detail. Legend includes roads, railways, telegraph lines and offices, towns and villages ranked in importance, rivers, marshes and other geographic features. Scale 1:1,000,000. Some very slight fraying, and staining. Maps such as these were issued to defence force personnel during conflict. They were sewn into their jackets so that in the event of an enforced landing over enemy territory the servicemen would be able to avoid capture and make their way to safe territory. Evasion maps were light and durable due to being printed on silk or fabric rather than paper.
