viii + 214pp, preliminary leaves heavily foxed, some other occasional foxing in text, ex-library with neat stamp at foot of upper wrapper and title page, labels are laid down at the top left of the upper wrapper and the upper corner of the half title, wrapper damaged along spine apparently where tape has been removed, spine darkened and rubbed causing lettering to be only just legible, upper wrapper nearly detached but binding now supported by a neat loose cover of paper. Good early overview of China from a French point of view. Published shortly after the Third China War of 1860 in which the French and British were allies. Text in French.
