Complete in 8 volumes. Wrappers, bound in Chinese style, 5 volumes have insect damage on the first or last leaves, two volumes have loss to the upper half of the last leaf of text, one volume lacks the lower wrapper, two volumes have been neatly tape repaired, wrappers of one volume creased and torn. Although borer damage is present in a number of volumes this is limited to the first or last leaves only and along a fairly narrow band on those leaves. The text is generally clean and legible. "This supplement to the T'ung Tien, classified according to the same 9 sections, merely contains the earlier work from 756 to the end of the Ming Dynasty. There are occasional differences in the items and in the method of presenting the material, but on the whole it is a faithful imitiation. Material is drawn from dynastic histoires, various hui yao, the T'ai P'in Yu Lan, Ts'e Fu Yuan Kuei, Shan T'ang K'ao So, Ch'I Tan Kwo Chih, Ta Chin Kuo Chih, Yuan Tien Chang, Ming Chi Li, ta Ming Hui Tien and the collected writings of a few individuals."
