One folding coloured map of Hokkaido with an inset of the Kuriles, small tear to margin not affecting the image, now neatly repaired, portrait frontis, 92 text illustrations, 325pp, appendix with measurements of the Ainu body and descriptive characteristics, as well as a glossary of Ainu words, index, pale foxing edges and first and last leaves, decorative endpapers browned, signature of prior owner and date in 19th century hand half title page, 2 leaves torn and repaired with sello tape and soiled at lower right hand corner, some wear and light marking to green cloth binding, head and tail of spine and corners little bumped, embossed pictorial upper cover gilt, gilt lettering spine, internally clean.
