1774, 1775, and 1776, by Captain Thomas Forrest. To which is added, a Vocabulary of the Magindano Tongue. Large folding map and three (of four) copper plates (1 folding), xxii + 448pp, speckled brown calf binding, contrasting red leather label spine, dentelled borders, extremities of binding worn, rebacked, joints splitting, one gathering nearly loose, stitching opening in two other places, ex-library copy with one ink library stamp lower margin pp.vii, stamp offset on lower margin of facing page, some browning first and last leaves and edges, text otherwise clean, neat name and date title page, front free endpaper creased, lacks the engraving of Dory Harbour. First published in Edinburgh in 1779. Forrest was engaged to establish a new settlement at Balambangan, an island off the north Borneo coast. The East India Company commissioned him for an exploring expedition with a view to finding new trading possibilities in the islands to the East.
