Striking large Chinese Cultural Revolution papercut on red paper. This bold image shows Chairman Mao with the rising sun as a halo-like image behind his head, in the finer detail of the paper cut farmers, workers and soldiers are gathered together with a determined looks on their faces. Some are holding Mao's quotation while others hold musical instruments.
In excellent condition, text in Chinese, papercut measures 71 x 51cm. Text lower margin reads, "Cheers for the victory of Chairman Mao's revolutionary line!/Many congratulations on the one year anniversary of "February 3rd" Power Seizure!"
On February 3rd 1967, 王效禹 (Wang Xiaoyu) led Revolutionary Rebel Faction in Shandong and held a power seizure conference at the provincial stadium. Wang declared that the Rebel Faction is taking over Shandong Province's political, economic and military power from the local government.
