4 issues in original wrappers, illustrated in black and white, some even browning, small holes punched in margin, good copies. 24 x 17cm. Kibi dango 驥尾團子 was a sister journal of Maru maru chinbun 團團珍聞. Due to Maru maru chinbun's on-going criticism of the government it was often suppressed with fines, arrests, and prohibition of sale and so the publisher started Kibi dango in October 1878 just in case Maru maru chinbun was banned. Kibi dango had a relatively short life with its final issue published in 1883.

The cover of issue No.115 included in this collection shows Godai Tomoatsu 五代友厚 (1836-85), a leading business man in Osaka, falling from the sky. Godai founded Dōjima Rice Trading Company in 1871. In 1880 Godai was severely criticised when he became involved in a rice price surge which led to a halt in rice trading. (When referring to this item please quote stockid 163497).
