Folding map of Korea and Manchuria titled "Battle Map of Japan and Russia" shows the Army and Naval strengths of Russia in the region printed in black and red, 166pp +  + 6pp, original pictorial upper cover, wrappers worn with a little loss, head and tail of spine chipped, a little light browning. Good copy. This timely detailed information resource on the Russo-Japanese War was published to meet the demand of the Japanese public who were eagerly following the progress of the war. Divided into two sections this book chronicles the events of the war up to the time of printing in early March 1904. The first section titled "History of the Russo-Japanese Conflict" provides comprehensive background information on the war including the interests of Korea and Manchuria. The second section titled "Battle Records between Japan and Russia" not only describes the actual battles between the two nations, but also contains the information such as the imperial proclamation by the Russian Emperor, imperial messages given to the Japanese Army and Navy, donation of precious metals to the Bank of Japan for war expenses from the Imperial Household, etc.
At the time this book was published less than a month had passed and at this point no land battles had taken place, though they were anticipated.
