3 sheets of transfers with about 44 images in total, 2 with tissue guards in original pictorial envelope. The envelope is a little insect damaged in places causing a litte loss to the explanatory text on reverse, 21 x 9cm, very good. The Takarazuka Revue Company is a Japanese stage company which employs solely female performers, who also play and sing the male roles as required. Founded in 1914 with headquarters at Takarazuka in Hyogo Prefecture the Company has cult status in Japan attracting a very enthusiastic group of particularly female fans, who love their idealised and romantic male-female relations and gorgeous costumes.
These "transfer pictures", water based stickers that feature the stars of the Takarazuka Revue and would likely have been bought by one of the company's many fans to decorate stationary or similar. These transfers appear to have been published in the mid-1930s, one of the images showing Ashiwara Kuniko who was a big star at that time. Other images also show other actresses in a wide variety of costumes. Text in Japanese and English on the back of the envelope explains how to apply the stickers.
