Text in traditional Chinese and English, very good in original wrappers. 18 x 25.5cm. This book includes 125 examples of wood-engravings and window decorations by artists from Northern China. It has been regarded as the companion or "sister" volume of the "Woodcuts of War-time China, 1937-1945", however this volume is more specific covering only the work of Northern Chinese artists. This book is important both artistically and historically for anyone interesting in China during the war of 1937-1945. The striking images give a pictorial insight into the work and daily life of the civilians and soldiers of Northern China during this difficult period.
