A few tape repairs at joins, upper and lower margins of 4 prints trimmed, occasional small tears at margins but generally very good. 8 prints measure 37.5 x 24cm, 4 measure 36.3 x 24cm. The first scene is Kō-no Moronao 高師直 (right) confronted by Momoi Wakasanosuke 桃井若狭之助, a scene from Kanadehon Chūshingura (The Treasury of Loyal Retainers) 仮名手本忠臣蔵. Two sheets. The actors who played these two roles are not named. The artist Utagawa Toyokuni, the 3rd 歌川豊國 (1786-1865) was known as Utagawa Kunisada 國貞, before he changed his name to Toyokuni.

This print is apparently dated 1855 but as the play was first performed in 1861 this date may not be correct. The characters are Yūjyoya [brothel owner] ? (right), Tokubei's wife (middle), and Hanaya Tokubei (left).The actors who played these roles are not named. Wood block carver's name is Shōji 庄治.
Etsuka 越嘉 (Publisher) Toyohara Kunichika 豊原國周 (Artist) (1835-1900) Bunkyū 4 (1864) Edo . This scene on two sheets is from Ōshū Inga Monogatari shin-kudoki 逢州因果物語新くどき. The characters are Yakko Kirihei 奴切平 played by Ichimura Kakitsu 市村家橘 (right) and Yadokari やどかり played by Onoe Eizaburō 尾上栄三郎 (left). Wood block carver's name is Asakura Horiman 朝倉彫万.
Utagawa Kunisada (Artist), The 3rd 歌川國貞 (1848-1920) Meiji (circa 1900) Tokyo . Two sheets of three. This scene is from Tekikoku Kōfuku 敵國降伏 [Surrender of the Enemy Nation] played at Meiji-za. Published as a set of three sheets this collection does not include the final sheet. The two characters here are Kubirai 忽必列 [Qubilai] played by Ichikawa Komazō 市川高麗藏 and his wife 弘吉刺 Kōkitsushi [Qonggirad] played by Ichikawa Metora 市川女寅.

Three characters are Akushichibei Kagekiyo 悪七兵衛景清 played by Ichikawa Danjūrō 市川團十郎, his wife Akoya 阿古屋 played by Bandō Shiuchō 坂東志う調, and Onna-shichō 女仕丁 [the female servant] played by Sawamura Gennosuke 沢村源之助.

Oda Ōi 小田大炊 played by Ichikawa Danjūrō 市川團十郎, Ataka Gōuemon 安宅郷右衛門 played by Ichikawa Sadanji 市川左團次, and Asao no Tsubone 淺尾の局 also played by Ichikawa Sadanji. Carver's name is Horifuji 彫藤.
