Tokyo: 大日本雄辯會講談社 [Dainihon Yūbenkai Kōdansha]. 1935. Stock ID #157989
Large colour folded map of the Pacific, Southeast Asia, Australia and North and Central America. A few neat repairs along folds. Sheet measures 78.5 x 109.5cm. A very good copy. Issued as a supplement to the magazine Kingu キング (vol.11, no.1) issued on New Years Day 1935. The map shows in the pictorial form of ships, the Japanese, American, British, French, and Australian fleets, the size of the ship depicted indicating the force's strength.
Charts in insets compare the Japanese military strength with that of the US, the UK, and the Soviet Union. Inset maps along the lower section of the map show places of interest. The largest of these inset maps show: Manchuria with its own inset map of Vladivostok; a map of Panama again with a small inset of Colón; a cross-section of the Panama Canal; San Franciso; Hawaii with an inset of Pearl Harbor; Guam; Manila and surrounding region. It is particularly interesting to note the somewhat more detailed inset map of Pearl Harbor. (When referring to this item please quote stockid 157989).
