Delicate engraved frontispiece and two title pages one of which is engraved, 230pp, original blind stamped cloth little marked along upper edge, spine faded, gilt lettering on spine dull, two 19th century marks of ownership preliminary leaves, last blanks and preliminary leaves a little browned, a good copy. 17 x 11cm. American born missionary Sarah B. Judson first travelled to Burma with her first husband George Dana Boardman in 1825 arriving there two years later. While in Burma she suffered several crushing blows as two of her three children died in infancy and her husband also died. After the death of George Boardman continued to live amongst the Karens for several years, before becoming the second wife of Dr Adoniram Judson. Sarah B. Judson died on her journey home to the United States in September 1845. (When referring to this item please quote stockid 158358).
