Hand coloured folded map of old Henan Province of China, folds into attractive colour printed patterned card cover, manuscript title label laid down upper cover. Sub-title in ink on reverse. Lined Shiramine Japanese paper, light occasional foxing. Text in traditional Chinese. Map measures 36.2 x 32.7cm. Good copy of an unusual map. This map shows the administrative and geographical information of old Henan Province. Administration levels are highlighted in different colours and shapes. Since the Ming Dynasty, Henan Province had been divided into 8 "Fu" 府, 12 "Zhou" 州, and 96 "Xian" 县. On this map, the highest administrative level "Fu" 府 is represented by a red square, second highest level "Zhou" is a yellow and red rectangular shape and the lowest level is shown in a variety of different shapes and colours. The Huanghe or Yellow River is drawn across the map in yellow. Mountains are illustrated and rivers are named. (When referring to this item please quote stockid 159902).
