Chinese Minguo period poster in colour showing six individual illustrations, each image is titled but not numbered, poster trimmed and laid down on paper backing. The posters are created in a style which combines that of the Chinese New Year Picture and Lianhuanhua. Upper left corner little loss not affecting text, otherwise in very good condition. Text in traditional Chinese. Sheet measures 37.3 x 50.6cm.

The main character 薛丁山 "Xue Dingshan" featured in the stories is a fictional general in Tang Dynasty who often appeared as a hero in Chinese folklore. He was believed to be the son of the famous general, 薛仁贵 "Xue Rengui" (614- 683), during early Tang Dynasty. Xue Dingshan's three fictional wives 竇仙童 "Dou Xiantong", 樊梨花 "Fan Lihua" and 陳金定 "Chen Jinding" also featured in three illustrations in the poster. All are clad in Peking Opera style military costumes.
