Volume I: 2 folding maps, 3 full page engravings, 2 full page woodcuts, some illustrations in text. xvi + 449 + [1]pp. Long largely closed tear with a little loss in one small place in rear map, damp damage lower right corner engravings. Original blind stamped cloth marked and faded in particular on the spine, recased, back strip laid down, hinges splitting.
Volume II: Folding black and white map of Hong Kong, 3 full page engravings, 2 full page woodcuts, x + 522pp. One gathering loosening, 2 closed tears across back strip.
Both volumes have the bookplate of the Ballarat Public Library laid down front paste down, bookplate annotated in with a little offsetting onto free endpapers. Embossed library stamps on a number of leaves. Some tissue guards are missing or browned. Some largely occasional, foxing or soiling, generally the text is very good and clean. A good copy.
