Handsome coloured bird's-eye folding map size, map measures 18 x 79cm; folds into 19 x 11cm colourful card folder. Sightseeing information and photographic illustrations are printed on the reverse in blue ink. A little minor wear at edges otherwise very good. This delightful folding map is a route map from Imaichi and Utsunomiya station to Nikko with scenic attractions along the way shown pictorially. World Heritage listed Nikko, is a place where people, including foreigners, have been visiting for many years. As well as being beautiful and historically important Nikko has played an important role in Japanese - Western relations. The Kanaya Hotel for example, which was the first hotel in the district for foreigners, also served as a place where Japanese and Western ideas could intermingle and fanned out from into the broader society outside Nikko.
