Very unusual, in both content and form, small sugoroku or Japanese game. Issued separately a delightful wooden box with colour title label on the lid. The colour folding sugoroku measures 24.8 x 30.2 cm; folds to 13.4 x 8.4 cm. Accompanied by a die and 5 player's pieces. A little browned on reverse in one area but overall in excellent condition.

This delightful sophisticated colour woodblock sugoroku is presented folded in a wooden box complete with the player's pieces and a die. The sugoroku features a Kabuki hall, at its centre with the wording "Made by Toto Jidai-ke" (東都時代家製). Although it is quite common to see games and albums featuring Kabuki actors and Kabuki one which featuring the stage props used in Kabuki such as this is very unusual. The size and delightful presentation of the sugoroku further marks it out as a most unusual item.
