This small book covers the strength of American and British shipping industries in war, from ship building, fuel supplies, and personnel. The author, Kudo Toshio, was a merchant seaman who worked for Osaka Shosen Kaisha. Kudo presents many figures and data and argues that the power of the American and British shipping industries is diminishing. Further he emphasizes the superior strength of Japanese crew. In reality, by 1943 when the book was published, Japanese military and merchant shipping had suffered devastating damage due to attacks from Allied Forces.
