Tinted lithographs 22.7 x 15.1 cm, 28.8 x 22.5 cm (sheet), edges a little age-toned, small stain to one of the lower margins, inner edge of one and outer of the other ragged, but the images in very good condition.

Pair of full-length portraits of official court interpreters from daguerrotypes by Eliphalet Brown, and prepared for Commodore Perry's "Narrative of the Expedition of an American Squadron to the China Seas and Japan...". The interpreters were representatives of the Tokugawa Shogunate.
