Portraits after daguerrotypes by Eliphalet Brown and an intriguing quartet, prepared for the official account "Narrative of the Expedition of an American Squadron to the China Seas and Japan...". Commodore Perry's squadron visited Hakodate in June 1854 and these were the officials were deputed to negotiate with him.
