Folding map in dark blue with an inset map borneo, part of Sumatra and Celebes. Black and white frontispiece and many illustrations, some foxing but primarily to the margins and edges, slight loss to head of spine with some discolouration of spine and lettering a little faded, embossed sheild design on the upper cover, contents sound. 313pp, index and 2 pages of publisher's adverts.21.5 x 14.5cm. Neat ink inscription on the front fixed endpaper, 'Leslie Napier Birks Xmas 1922 from Mother ' Leslie Birks was a well known South Australian personality who died when his Moth aeroplane crashed in Adelaide in 1934.

'Deals with the territory of the British North Borneo Company, and in particular the adjacent districts of the Tuaran and Tempassuk, called after two rivers that take their rise in Mount Kinabalu the magnificent, which towers up almost perpendicularly on its seaward face to a height of 13,400 feet.'
