Lithograph 40.8 x 58.1 cm; 54.1 x 68.2 cm (sheet), two very small edge tears, the sheet a little worn and spotted, but a very good dark impression.
The dramatic scene commemorates the 2nd Turkish siege of Vienna under the command of Grand Vizier Kara Mustafa, the city defended by the forces of the Holy Roman Empire. The battle is considered to be the beginning of the long "Great Turkish War", (1683-1699) which was supposed to drive the Ottomans out of Central Europe.
