The author, Yagi Hisaharu, was the school principal of a Japanese girls' high school in Fushun, Manchuria. This book is a collection of letters he wrote to his students during a study tour he undertook to look at girls' education in the United States, France, Italy, Switzerland, Germany, Scandinavia and Britain over an eight month period between October 1926 and June 1927. He writes in detail about girls' education in New York, Paris, Berlin and London. He also conveys more general impressions and stories of his experiences in the other places in visited.
