Interesting Chinese coloured map of Vietnam published during the Vietnam War and issued as supplement of a publication titled 世界知識 "World Affairs", folded, scale not given. A little minor creasing, tiny closed tear lower margin, very good copy. Text in Chinese. Map measures 35.5 x 24.7cm.

A fascinating Chinese military situation map of Vietnam published in the mid 1960s. The map also covers parts of southern China, Cambodia, Lao and Thailand. The legend shows the locations where the southern Vietnamese had landslide victories over American troops, American naval and air force bases (including some super-size air force bases), roads, railway lines and provincial boundaries.

Explanatory notes on upper section and left lower corner states that in the period between August 5, 1964 and April 9, 1965, 182 US aircraft were shot down by the North Vietnamese army and civilians. It also includes the number of enemy (341,000) including US troops (4,366) killed and the number of army transportation vehicles (aircraft, ships and cars) destroyed between 1961 and February 1965 by the South Vietnamese people.

Below this a list of war crimes perpetrated by the US Imperialists is given. It states that 35,000 American Imperialists were deployed; South Vietnamese civilians killed number 170,000 and that casualties among the South Vietnamese for this time stood at 800,000. 400,000 Vietnamese were "locked up"; 5,000 Vietnamese people tortured (disembowelled or buried alive); 8,000 concentration camps established and more than 100,000 acres of agricultural land poisoned.
