Stock ID #180355 A first hand account of the Sixth Indian Division (the Sixth Poona Division) and its service in the Mesopotamian Campaign led by Major General Barrett and Major General Townshend from 1914 to 1916. During the First World War, the Mesopotamian Campaign was fought between British allies and India against the Central Powers, mostly the Ottoman Empire. This work tells of the division's early successes in 1914, the major defeat at the Battle of Ctesiphon in late 1915, a description of the garrison of Kut in Turkey and the subsequent surrender and capture of the British forces in 1916. Original publisher's green cloth covered boards, lettered in black on the upper board and in gilt on the spine. Small prior owner's stamp but an extremely clean and pleasing copy of a rare account.
