Special edition of the Japanese Advertiser 1928. With the striking original woodblock colour print of Himeji Castle, by Hiroshi Yoshida tipped in and with numerous black and white full page and text images. xvi + 179pp. Japanese traditional style binding with multi-coloured ribbon ties, attractive pictorial cloth covered boards, pictorial endpapers chipped with loss but backed with a new endpaper, the whole enclosed in linen covered boards with light fading, corners and edges rubbed. 43.5 x 28cm. Folio. The title page has some light foxing but the text is in very good condition. A presentation copy signed by B.W. Fleisher - the editor.

This remarkable work includes articles on the interpretation of the enthronement and the various ceremonies of the accession followed by articles on related subjects by Japanese and European scholars. Enclosed is a small advertising feature consisting of six colour photographs stapled together illustrating various aspects of the volume.
