[Autumn Harvest].

[Japan]. Uchikda Bijutsu Shoten. No date. (Circa. 1955). Later issue. Stock ID #204814

Colour woodblock print, 26.2 x 38cm on sheet size 28 x 40.5cm. Small brown mark and small piece of adhesive residue on upper edge of verso. Otherwise in very good condition.

An attractive and brightly coloured view of Mt. Fuji on an autumn clear day. As the title indicates, farmers are busy harvesting rice in the field. A small shrine can be seen on the hill behind those labouring in the paddy. This print was originally issued as part of a series The Eight Views of Mount Fuji in 1939-40. The series was reissued several times during the 1950s under a new title Four Seasons of Mount Fuji. This print is from one of the 1950s reissues as can be seen by the removal of a small telephone pole on the side of the hill, lack of series title in the margin and the positioning of the title, artist's signature and chop.
