Pictorial colour map of Europe, 48 x 62 cms, 58.5 x 73.3 cms (sheet including tables), inset map of Finland and Scandinavia, original folds, small marginal edge tears, in very good, bright condition.

Uncommon World War II map of Europe, including parts of Africa, Libya, Egypt, the Middle East and Turkey. Published in Canada by RCA-Victor before the United States had entered the war, this vivid pictorial map shows the concentration of Allied and Axis armed forces. Crops and mineral deposits are comprehensively noted ("Molybdenum" in Turkey). Inset legends depict silhouettes of British battle ships and aircraft.

In 1939, RCA had demonstrated an all-electronic television system at the New York World's Fair. World War II slowed the deployment of television in the US, but radio and phonograph sales were strong.The margins list the Principal Short Wave Stations of the World and the Principal Canadian and US Standard Wave Stations.
