New York. Army Information Branch. 1945. Volume IV, No. 10 B. Stock ID #210011

Folding colour map 79.4 x 116 cms; 88.2 x 119 cms (sheet); scattered foxing, upper fold split with small loss in blank area, otherwise in bright, very good condition.

A full sheet colour map of Europe, Africa, Asia and Australia with the two theatres of war marked: Liberated Areas since 7 Dec 41; Enemy Held Areas 8 May 45; and the battle-lines at various dates from 7 Dec 41 to 8 May 45. Issued just a few weeks before the Japanese surrender on August 15, it aimed to keep up the American patriotic spirit with the exhortation at the bottom of the map: "KEEP THIS MAP ALIVE ... Don't let it become just a wall decoration ... add your own phase lines, shade in the enemy areas taken daily until V-J Day." A powerful image.
