This fascinating and colourful sugoroku game sheet was a supplement to the January 1927 issue of a magazine, Katei no denki (家庭の電気, Electricity at Home), which was to promote wider electricity use at home. Electricity was a symbol of modernisation in this game. The magazine was published by an association which promoted popularisation of electricity. Electrification rapidly progressed at the beginning of the Taisho period, and electric light usage was almost 100 per cent in Tokyo by 1912. The association, which was funded by utility companies and electric equipment manufactures, promoted wider electrification.

The game starts at the wedding and various household chores, including cleaning, cooking, laundry, and ironing, are featured as it is emphasised that electricity is more efficient and cleaner. The game also points out that traditional use of fire and charcoal would be more dangerous and dirtier while electricity use at home would make families happier and healthier. The goal features a happy family with an electric heater and electric lights in the living room.
