Edited by Wang Yunwu. 4 volumes. 7491 - 11525pp. Bound in original blue decorative gilt cloth. Cloth worn with loss particularly on spines and boards marked. Volume I contents little stamp stained on upper portions of most leaves, corners a few leaves creased, backstrip torn with loss at head and tail of spine not affecting title. Volume II edges trifle damp affected, backstrip torn with loss affecting first two characters of title on spine. Volume III: Folding chart. Minor loss at head and tail of spine. Endpapers and edges foxed and browned, cloth a little stained. Volume IV: Endpapers and edges browned, cloth stained, tape repair head of spine, spine chipped at tail. First two volumes exhibit some worming on boards and endpapers not affecting text. All volumes black ink mark lower section of spine. A useful reading copy. Text in traditional Chinese.

"This work was compiled as a supplement to the Huang chao wen xian tong kao and follows it closely in arrangement, dealing with the period between 1786 and 1911. There are thirty sections, including four new ones: on foreign affairs, on the postal system, on industry, and on the Constitution. New items include those on import duties, opium, and likin in the section on taxation, that on modern education in the section on the school system, and that on the navy in the military section."
