Large Chinese propaganda papercut on red paper with paper backing, shows Mao looking into the distance benevolently, a huge sun with its rays extending behind him. A poem written by Mao in calligraphy style lower section. Very good. Text in Chinese. 71.5 x 49.8cm.

The Qijue poem was written in September 1961. The poem translates "Amid the growing shades of dusk stand sturdy pines, Riotous clouds sweep past, swift and tranquil. Nature has excelled herself in the Fairy Cave, On perilous peaks dwells beauty in her infinite variety." Qijue poem is one of the most common type of classical Chinese poems which consists of four verses and each verse includes seven characters.
