A 1950s receipt from the Shanghai Old Bookstore, showing the date of transaction, category of the book, number of book, price of the book and cashier's surname. The bookstore's stamp in the centre, a serial number of the receipt upper right section. Text in Chinese. Sheet measures 7.8 x 9.6cm.

上海图书发行公司 "Shanghai Book Publishing Company" was established in 1954. In late 1950s, the company was reconstructed. The new books section was merged into Xinhua Bookstore and Foreign Language Bookstore. The secondhand books or rare books section set up a new business called 上海古旧书店 "Shanghai Old and Rare Bookstore" and several shop front were open on Fuzhou Road, North Sichuan Road, and they now run book sales and auctions, have a publishing arm, etc.
