This interesting collection of Hitachi home appliances pamphlets from the 1960s covers washing machines, black and white televisions, refrigerators, cooling fans, toasters, sewing machines, electric heaters, water pumps, and florescent lights. Many of them have stamps of an electric retail shop in Matsuzaka City in Mie Prefecture. The pamphlets provide interesting snap shots on evolution on electric home appliances and their advertisement. Their prices were quite high for ordinary consumers of that period and often exceeded monthly wages. This interesting collection provides not only information, but also beautifully illustrates some of the dreams of many aspiring Japanese households at that time.
