Black and white photographic illustrations, 306pp, attractive pictorial boards and dustwrapper, head of dustwrapper spine chipped with loss, original printed card slipcase a little chipped and worn, 19 x 13.5 cm. Endpapers browned, occasional spotting but a very good copy of a scarce work.

A collection of folk tales and legends from Manchuria and Inner Mongolia. The author, Hosokawa Kiyoshi, states in his foreword that it is important to learn about the local people and culture of the newly settled areas through their legends as much as learning about their vast size and rich recourses. Very interesting collection.
