Half title, vii + 296 pages, 21 x 13.5 cm, quarter flecked calf over marbled boards, vellum tips, spine gilt decorated (worn), two small spots of loss to the paper on the front and back board, light spotting, but in very good original condition, with the signature of Philippe de Diesbach on the half title.
Rare on the market, and a notable 19th century account of Blondel's travels to Syria and the Holy Land. Contemporary scholars applauded Blondel for his contribution to the knowledge of the ancient region. He was one of the most important French travellers of his day, who visited the region at a strategic time for France's relations.
