Colour folding maps, sheet printed on both sides. Large striking brightly coloured map of Eastern Asia, scale 1:7000000, 108 x 77 cm. World map on reverse. Abrasion in one small place to paper at foot of Eastern Asia map, pin holes at each corner where map was pinned-up for display have been repaired with archival washi, slight age discolouration in places, margins slightly soiled but not affecting the images, overall fascinating maps in good condition.

This fascinating map of Asia was published in 1942 during the Pacific War and is clearly drawn with detailed place names and local resources (agricultural and mineral) marked in red letters. Interestingly, Spratly Islands are distinctively marked in this map as Shin'nan Gunto (新南群島) and as Japanese territory. Japan gave up its territorial claim after the Pacific War. The reverse shows a world map with Japan in the centre. Information on various countries including Germany, Italy, Britain, France and the US are printed on the lower edge.
