Zentsuji is known as the birthplace of Kobo Daishi, or Kukai, who founded the Shingon sect of Japanese Buddhism in the early 9th century. Founded in 807 by Kukai's father, the temple is a major attraction for pilgrims wishing to venerate him. It is the 75th temple of the Shikoku Pilgrimage of 88 Temples.
The text in the top right provides historical background to the temple and gives claim to the great effects gained by visiting the sacred site. Also gives details on the access via railway. The image shows some visitors arriving at the temple entrance by rickshaws.
