An unrelated (and contrasting) full-page engraving of Matchlockmen at Omura and three other views of a mountain pass and hot springs in Takiwa and the Megane bridge in Isahaya accompany a tranquil travelogue "A ride through Kiusiu, Japan". Single issue (lacks the separately published Supplement), four full-page engravings, several half-page, 24 pp (pp 415-438) , disbound from a larger compilation, original stab holes, light foxing, very good condition.
Preparations for the London International Exhibtion of 1862 are included (with a full-page engraving) and presentation of colours to the London Rifle Volunteer Brigade (with a full-page engraving).
The final page with three engravings is given to coverage of the American Civil War, and the advance of "Federalists" on Munson's Hill.
