Coloured copper plate map, 44 x 61 cm, folded into 14.7 x 8 cm, cloth cover with title label slightly insect damaged but still legible. Some tiny holes at folds, worming in one small place, an 8cm repair along one fold from the margin repaired with Japanese tissue?, still an attractive map.

This charming detailed copper plate map of Tokyo gives place names and the locations of some major temples, including Zojo-ji. It was most probably published sometime during the early Meiji period when there were eleven greater wards in the city. A valuable record of how metropolitan Tokyo has developed in the last 150 years.
