Of interest is the close attention given to the internal borders of China, which appear to follow an odd hybrid of the old Qing period divisions and the Republican provinces that superseded them, rather than any actual zones of control - Xinjiang and Tibet, though under Chinese sovereignty, are marked as less firmly so than territories to their east. As the map predates the Soviet-Japanese Neutrality Pact, both Mongolia and Tuva are still marked as under nominal Chinese sovereignty with growing Russian influence. Typical for the period, Arunachal Pradesh is marked as Chinese, rather than Indian, territory.
