Black and white photographic illustrations, 55 x 41cm, [4]pp newspaper which has been folded in four at some time and the creases can still be seen. Some occasional soiling and spotting, light even browning, good copy.

This extra edition of Tokyo Nichinichi Shinbun was issued on 3 October 1931, about two weeks after the Manchurian Incident took place. Extra editions were usually distributed free on busy street corners to report some extraordinary or significant incidents. The front page shows the Japanese troops in Manchuria with Minami Jiro's, the Minister of Army, calligraphy which says "All the nationals to unite". The second and third pages feature numerous photographs of Japanese troops occupying Mukden. A few photographs of Chinese propaganda posters are included as the evidence of the planned attacks by the Chinese. The last page features photographs of commanding officers and Japanese residents' victorious celebrations.

The issue intends to legitimise the Japanese military expansion in China for the readers and to celebrate the victory, almost in real time after the incident.
