This photographic album commemorates a 1933 visit to Chicago and other cities in the United States by businessman Nonogaki Ichitarō. He was involved in woollen textile manufacturing in Ichinomiya, Aichi Prefecture, and was part of a delegation that travelled to the Chicago World Fair with the aim of expanding the Japanese woollen textile market in the US. The group sailed to the US aboard the S.S. President Taft and returned on the Chichibu-maru. During their visit, they toured several cities including Chicago, Boston, Washington, D.C., New York, San Francisco, Los Angeles, and Hawaii. A tipped-in plate of Niagara Falls is included in the album. The company, Nonogaki Wool Textile, still operates in Ichinomiya today.
