Map, black and white photographic illustrations with diagrammatic and text tissue guard overlays, 19pp (unpaginated), 19 x 26cm, ribbon tie. Newspaper cutting of Miyamoto Saburo's painting of the surrender meeting between Yamashita and Percival in Singapore laid down on the reverse of the first plate. Original wrappers trifle worn. Some staining upper wrapper and some corresponding light marking near gutter of first leaves. Tissue guards little creased, two worn along lower edge. Otherwise clean. A fair copy of a very interesting souvenir style album.

This commemorative photographic album covering the Pearl Harbor attack and the Battle of Malaya was published in February 1942, only a few months after these victories. On the first leaf of the album the Emperor's Declaration of War appears with glossaries. In all there are five photographic illustrations of the Pearl Harbor attack and one of the Battle of Malaya. The plates are accompanied by tissue guards with additional commentary, which includes place names and the identification of ships.

Interestingly the publisher is Yasuda Life Insurance, an insurance company, which is one of the oldest and largest in Japan. The company continues to operate to this day as the Meiji - Yasuda Insurance Company.
