125 kimono pattern designs tipped in a number of leaves in a damged album, 32 x 46cm. The leaves of the album evenly browned, the patterns are folded with some light additional creasing, covers of the album have been removed but the leaves are still firmly held by the spine.
The designs are meticulously and delicately rendered, primarily in varying shades of ink. Drawing inspiration from nature and the changing seasons, the patterns feature motifs such as flowers, trees, origami cranes, and waves, often stylized with a unique flair. Some sketches are presented on grid paper to facilitate their transfer to dye templates, with handwritten notes on the reverse side detailing theme titles and production numbers.
Notably, several smaller designs bear the business stamps of Maruta Shibata Shoten (丸太柴田商店), a silk textile company founded approximately 270 years ago that continues to operate in Tokyo.
